Introducing FAD – Façade Analysis & Design Software

I'm excited to introduce FAD (Facade Analysis & Design) – a structural design software specifically for facade engineering. Built with Python and C++, FAD aims to perform complex Façade design calculations and automate professional reporting.


Features

Current Features Include:

  1. Wind load calculation for MWFRS and C&C as per BNBC 2020 and ASCE 7-05 (more codes to be added soon)
  2. Structural glass design based on ASTM E1300 (EN/AS codes coming later)
  3. Design of framing members (mullions, transoms, steel members)
  4. Cleat and screw design for mullion-transom connections
  5. Comprehensive fixing design – including pre and post-installed anchors, chemical anchors, base plates, clamps, etc.
  6. Fully automated design reports in PDF format using (used Jinja2 and WeasyPrint)

Future Plans

I have Plans to extend the feature of FAD in coming days, which includes:

  1. 3D visualization of wind loads
  2. Stress and deflection contours for glass
  3. FEM-based analysis for framing members

This is just the beginning. I will keep improving and adding more features to make this tool even more useful.
